This Japanese-inspired Dragon sculpture is comprised of over 400 6 in. steel nails, hand-bent and welded with MIG and oxygen-acetylene systems. This piece is part of my handmade, steel nail sculpture series that includes a Phoenix, Minotaur, and a steampunk-inspired Cube Maze. (More photos of the series to come, I promise!)
My Japanese Dragon portfolio highlights the intricacy and meticulous attention to detail I applied from every angle. I hope it also conveys the hard work and high quality I’ve invested in creating it! Would love to know your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
The sculpture stands approximately 13″ x 14″ x 24″, perfect to display on a tall pedestal or grand platform that needs a focal point. The steel base offers reliable support for the 12lb. Japanese Dragon.
McCallister Sculpture’s Japanese Dragon is currently in rotating galleries, but is available for purchase. Please email info@mccallistersculpture.com for more information on custom pricing and commissions or send your thoughts below.
What a work of art. Danny happened to walk by and saw it. He was really impressed.
How are you doing? Enjoy your weekend. Hugs Sarah

Thank you so much Sarah ( and Danny!) This Japanese dragon piece is actually in a show that opened over the weekend, so I was able to meet and greet with other artists which is always refreshing. What’s new in the attic?

I am smiling because I finally feel like I have something positive to say.
First off though. It must be exciting to be able to show your work off like that. Congrats.
As to what is new here:
It got below 70 degrees for the first time in 5 almost 6 months. At was 67 out when I walked outside this morning. It hadn’t been below 73 in months.
So I was walking with a bit of a spring in my step.
The state park is getting busy once again.
It is raining less and less.
I am smiling more.
How is that? LOL
Have a wonderful Tuesday

Here is AZ we’ve experienced a change in weather as well. Last week was 100+ (hello Fall) but this week has dropped to 70s, which is a refreshing change for us all. Glad to hear you are enjoying the transformation! Cheers to good change.
