Dismantled

Dismantled

This Bronze and Ceramic sculpture called “Dismantled” is another piece that relates in concept to the Organic Construction series by depicting nature breaking down man’s constructions.

The vine like forms pull the spherical bronze puzzle pieces apart like the roots of a tree would an ancient building.  I like to see seemingly permanent man made structures be overtaken and dismantled by years of root growth and weathering.  Some examples that I eventually got to see in person were in Cambodia’s Ancient City of Angkor Wat.

Stone temples and doorways covered by trees over a hundred years old remind me that even with man’s great cities and constructs, time is on nature’s side, and nature will reclaim any lost territory from man’s expansion.
