A big part of being a sculptor for me is to challenge myself by mixing mediums and finding a balance between the two.

In this case, I made two large clay discs from the inside edge of a trashcan lid.  I put my finger prints all over the interior of the shell, and then textured the outside with abrasions and scuffs to add some weathering effects.  I left holes in the center to allow for some type of connections between the two, and for months the disks sat on the shelf until I finally decided how I was going to create tension between the disks.  So using 1/4 inch steel rods I heated and manipulated them into the thread like connections.
